Individual Counseling

I believe that you have come here with the desire of finding hope: Hope that you will be able to find effective solutions to what troubles you and that you will ultimately feel better.  You may be struggling with elements of life that you have not been able to address on your own (such as  feeling anxious or depressed due to life’s stress) or you may be needing something in your life (a new career, more friends, healthy relationships) and up to now, you have just not been able to figure out how to get these needs met.

Over the last several years, we have all been adversely affected by the changes in the global economy as well as our local economy. One of the most significant trends I am experiencing in my practice are individuals seeking to address the pressures they are under because they are fearful of losing additional significant assets:  Their mental health, their marriage, their significant other, their relationship with their children, and/or their close friendships.  These tend to be the most treasured and valued personal assets.  Many clients perceive their efforts in counseling as a true investment in protecting and growing their most personal assets, I.E. Their mental health and their relationships.

I work diligently with my clients to identify and resolve the core issues that put them at risk of losing their personal assets and have barred them from attaining their personal goals and desires.  I believe that all of us have the capability of attaining our goals.  However, given some of the difficult and painful challenges we all experience, getting a little bit of help can pave the way to happier and more fulfilled life.

My theoretical orientation draws heavily from Object -Relations TheoryCognitive-Behavioral TheoryPsychoeducational Theory, and Solution-Focused Theory.  My counseling style is best described as warm, friendly, and professional: I believe that foremost to the facilitation of optimum development and well-being is the establishment of a safe therapeutic relationship where people can share their innermost thoughts and feelings without fear of retribution or rejection.
